GCC region, being one of the most carbon intensive region and being threatened by the response measures to climate change, direly needs human and institutional capacity development for climate actions and carbon management. The regional governments also aspire for the high sustainability standards of the region and are committed to implement best practices. The states have shown strong willingness to implement the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of United Nations and make the implementation of Paris outcome to avoid catastrophic climate change. No doubt that the region has high responsibilities and accountabilities as the major driver for these economies is production of oil and gas, which heavily contributes to climate change worldwide. The capacity development, therefore, is not only needed at government level to lead countries in international climate negotiations to represent regional interests and support formulating economic diversification strategies, but also at the levels of public/private businesses, institutions and societies to innovate and implement GHG mitigation actions and adopt changes in lifestyles. GCT, through its multi-disciplinary team and network of professionals is geared up to develop capacities among variety of stakeholders to make this happen.
